How to Remove Bing From Chrome
If you’re constantly being redirected to Bing when using Chrome, you may have a browser hijacker on your computer. This type of malware can alter your browser settings without your consent, and often leads you to unsavory websites.
Fortunately, you can easily remove this redirect virus from your computer. To get rid of it, follow these steps.
1. Go to Settings
If you are using Chrome on a Mac or Windows PC, and your browser is redirecting to Bing instead of Google, it is possible that your browser has been hijacked by a browser hijacker. Browser hijackers are bundled software programs that come with freeware downloads, email attachments or other forms of unauthorized content. They change the settings of your browser to harvest your personal information and to promote malicious websites.
In most cases, the only way to get rid of a browser hijacker is to uninstall it completely from your device. However, if you do not want to do this, or if the problem is still persisting after you remove it, there are some other steps you can take.
First, you can check to see what search engine your browser is set to use in the address bar. If it is Bing, you can easily change this to something else by clicking the three dots next to your browser’s search engine and selecting a different option, such as Google or Yahoo!
Second, you can also go to Settings and check what is set to open on startup. If Bing is listed as one of your options, you can change this to something else by clicking the More actions button next to it and choosing a different startup option, such as Open a specific page or set of pages.
Third, you can also check your browser’s extensions to see if there are any that are related to Bing. If there are any, you can disable them by swiping the button to the left or delete them by clicking the Remove button.
Finally, you can reset your browser’s settings to their original defaults by going to Settings and clicking on Reset and clean up. After a few minutes, your browser should be back to its original state.
2. Click on Manage Search Engines
Your web browser uses a default search engine that sends results back to you when you type a query into the address bar. If you prefer another one, you can use the search settings to change the default browser’s search engine.
Some of the most popular Internet browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft’s Edge, allow you to manage your search engines, add a new search engine, or delete one. However, there are a few steps that you must take to do so.
First, you must click on Manage Search Engines in the Chrome Settings menu. This opens a new window where you can find the list of all your search engines and their related settings.
Once you find the search engine you want to remove, click on its three-dot icon. It will open a menu with options to make it your default, deactivate it, or delete it.
Next, you must check for any Bing-related extensions on your computer that might be causing your browser to use the search engine. If any of them are installed, they need to be removed before you can remove Bing from your computer’s search engine.
Finally, you must check if Bing is set as your web browser’s default search engine. This can happen because of malware such as Browser Hijacker that changes your browser’s settings.
If you’re running a Windows PC, you can delete the default Bing web search in the Search Engines section of the Windows Control Panel. For Mac users, you can also do this by disabling Bing in the Apple Safari browser. Once you’ve done that, you can go back to removing the Bing search engine in your Chrome browser.
3. Click on Bing
If you’re noticing that Bing has taken over your Chrome browser and causing you trouble, it may be time to remove it. You can do this with ease, and the process only takes a few minutes.
The problem can be caused by a malicious extension or application that has changed your Chrome settings to redirect your search queries to Bing. These adware programs get installed through fake pop-up ads and links.
When these adware programs are installed on your system, they alter your Chrome settings to generate revenue from the advertisements that they redirect your searches to. You can easily find out if any of these adware programs are on your computer by looking at your browser’s settings.
To remove Bing from your Google Chrome, go to Settings and click on Manage Search Engines. Select Bing from the list and click Remove.
Alternatively, you can also remove Bing from your Firefox browser by following the same steps. Just be sure to choose a different search engine in the drop-down menu that appears.
Another way to remove Bing from your Chrome browser is by disabling its integration with Windows 10. This is done by clicking on the Cortana button in the taskbar and selecting Cortana & Search Settings. Then disable the option titled “Search online and include web results.”
If you’d like to use other search engines as your default, you can do that in Edge and IE by using their settings menus. The process is similar for Firefox and Chrome, but the only difference is that you’ll need to choose a different provider. For instance, in Firefox you can select a different search provider from the menu that appears when you press the three-dot icon in the upper right corner.
4. Click on Remove
If Bing is showing up in Chrome and you have checked that Google or another search engine is selected as the default, you can use the Settings page to remove it. The Open a specific page or set of pages option is under On startup, and if it’s enabled and Bing is listed as one of the web addresses, click on the More actions button (represented by three vertically stacked dots) next to it and select Remove from list.
Alternatively, you can also delete it from Chrome by resetting your browser to its original defaults. This resets everything, including your extensions and temporary data like cookies and cache. However, it won’t change the default search engine or remove any bookmarks or saved passwords.
First, you’ll want to check your browser’s Extensions page for any unusual or suspicious add-ons that may be hiding in there. These can be anything from adware programs to malicious apps.
You should also check the date modified section, which lets you sort applications by install dates. This can help you find any apps that are installed on your Mac that you don’t remember installing.
Once you’ve found any that look suspicious, drag them to the trash icon in your dock. Then, restart Chrome to finish the removal process.
Finally, if you’re a Mac user, you can manually remove Bing by opening Activity Monitor and locating any processes that you don’t recognize. You can also try resetting the device in Safe Mode, which can irradicate many viruses.
5. Close the window
One of the most common ways that hackers hijack your Chrome browser is by redirecting you to a Bing site. This is known as the Bing Redirect Virus, and it can be a serious problem.
Luckily, there is a way to remove this hazard from your Chrome browser. In fact, you can even set it to a different search engine.
The process is fairly simple and can be completed in just a few clicks. You can do this by opening up your Chrome browser and locating the three dots icon in the top right corner of your screen.
Once you have done this, you should see a menu of options. You should see Bing listed as a search engine, and you should click on the three dot button to select Remove.
This will remove bing from your browser and prevent it from being used as your default search engine in the future. It will also remove any other traces of bing that may have been installed on your computer.
However, it is important to note that this method will not completely get rid of bing. In fact, you might end up with a Bing redirect in your browser again, especially if it has been set as the primary search engine or has been installed as an extension in Firefox.
In order to avoid this, it is best to delete bing and reset your browser. This will clear out your pinned tabs, start-up page, search engine, and cookies. It will also restore your settings to their original defaults. This will protect you from further viruses and ensure that your privacy is protected.
